raumlaborberlin. Modelling Futures
The collective raumlaborberlin has been active for over 20 years, working at the intersection of architecture, urban planning, and art. They design temporary architectural installations in urban spaces that transform a street or a square in such a way that people want to stay and participate. Their architectural interventions are functional structures that foster social interaction and turn passersby into active participants.
The exhibition at Haus Coburg offers a rare opportunity to explore the often temporary and geographically dispersed projects of recent years and to speculate about the future. A second focus of the collective is exhibition and stage displays that enable a staging where the boundary between performance and audience blurs. Haus Coburg, too, becomes a performance venue. During the exhibition setup, raumlaborberlin will occupy Villa Coburg and establish an infrastructure there that supports daily operational work. Within this infrastructure, evening gatherings will take place throughout the exhibition.
On four occasions, Haus Coburg, in collaboration with raumlaborberlin, invites guests to a “Discursive Dinner.” The focus is on cooking, eating, and washing dishes together. Accompanied by short presentations, the scenario aims to spark lively discussions on the topics of the city center, schools, and medical care.
Each session is limited to 30 participants. If you’d like to learn more about the raumlaborberlin collective, please register for the session on September 23, 2023. The future of city centers and the relationship between urban and rural areas will be on the menu on October 19, 2023. We will discuss the situation of schools on November 16, 2023. Healthcare will be on the agenda on January 18, 2024.
All dinners start at 6 p.m. and last about four hours. Please send your registration by email to hauscoburg@delmenhorst.de.
