In the annex of the Städtische Galerie, works by three young artists from the HBK Braunschweig are on display alongside Helene Appel’s solo exhibition. Noemi Pradella-Kleibrink, Saskia Siebe, and Jakob Zimmermann all work in the field of painting, which they occasionally expand into the sculptural and spatial realms. Helene Appel worked with them at the university, engaging in intensive discussions about individual works and reflecting on technical methods as well as the contemporary art scene. In Delmenhorst, the exhibition now offers an opportunity to continue this collaboration and discuss various manifestations of painting.

Noemi Pradella-Kleibrink (b. 1990, Hagen) has been studying painting at the HBK Braunschweig since 2016. In her large-format paintings, she explores the spatial conditions of color fields and contours. She is not only interested in the compositional relationships within the pictorial space. She also experiments with the spatial arrangement of the works, folding or hanging her canvases from the ceiling or placing them in public spaces.

Saskia Siebe (*1984 Mexico City) focuses her artistic practice on places of memory. These are real locations that transform in the act of recollection and appear in various versions within her art. Saskia Siebe trained as a mosaic artist at the Scuola Mosaicista del Friuli in Italy and at the Escola Massana in Barcelona before studying painting at the HBK Braunschweig starting in 2013. In 2020, she completed her studies as a master’s student. She lives and works in Braunschweig.

Jakob Zimmermann (*1993, Augsburg) studied Popular Music and Media at the University of Paderborn before beginning his studies in Fine Arts at the HBK Braunschweig in 2017. Pop culture remains a central theme in his artistic practice. As a member of the artist collective Bezugsgruppe Rainer Rauch, he creates large-scale installations and performances and produces music.
